Be warned: This post contains spoilers for the first two seasons of Game of Thrones.

In every TV show there are characters that you just can’t stand. Maybe they double-crossed a favourite character or perhaps they’ve started burning people alive. Either way, you want to see them meet a grisly end.

The beauty of Game of Thrones is that the possibility a particularly dislikeable character will become intimately acquainted with the pointy end of a sword is quite high.

Here are five people that we don’t want to see make it to season four.

Petyr Baelish (Littlefinger)

petyr baelish

There are just too many sneaky people in this show. If I had to pick one to be killed off, it would have to be Petyr ‘Littlefinger’ Baelish. He looks like he’s going to tie someone to a train track and laugh maniacally as the locomotive comes hurtling towards them.
Baelish is constantly whispering in ears, gathering information and manipulating people to his will. He’s also responsible for betraying Ned Stark (the most honourable man in the whole show). In fairness to him though, he did warn Ned not to trust him pretty early on.

But still, no one can ever be forgiven for betraying Sean Bean.

Sansa Stark

sansa stark

From day one, Sansa has been getting on my nerves. At first it was just her general demeanour but then incidents like the one with the butcher boy just tipped annoyance over the edge of the cliff and it turned into hatred. As soon as she gets a whiff of that throne she completely throws away any sense of loyalty to her family and sides with Joffrey. She’s had so many opportunities to end the war but she’s just been in ‘scared sheep’ mode since the season one finale. All she has to do is kill Joffrey and end the war. She might be a little bit screwed but it would be all gravy for the rest of the Starks!

Samwell Tarly

samwell tarly

Ah, Samwell. Why is he so useless? All he’s done for the whole show is cry and fall over. I know we’re meant to feel sympathy for the man but he’s just too annoying. When he started taking a liking to one of Crasters’ daughter’s I was genuinely excited for a moment, because I was thinking, “Yes! This is idiot is going to be gutted!”

Unfortunately, that still hasn’t happened. Yet.

Melisandre

game of thrones melisandre

She’s the most stereotypically evil character in the show. She drinks poison like it’s nothing, gives birth to shadow assassins and talks in the most evil tone imaginable. She’s leading Stannis down a dark road and to top it all off, she’s even started burning people alive.

What a lovely lady.

Theon Greyjoy

He’s a wanker. What more do you need to know?

How can anyone not like Samwell Tarly?!

I agree with Kevin Bernard. Also, why the fuck is Joffrey missing in that list?

This article is quite irritating. For one thing, Sansa killing Joffrey would accomplish nothing, as there’s several others in line for the throne. This is clearly demonstrated in A Feast for Crows. Petyr Baelish definitely has an agenda, but he’s also crucial to various plot movements. Theon Greyjoy is indeed a dick, but he has an excellent arc of character development ahead. Samwell Tarly may be useless now, but he grows as well. As for Melisandre, she isn’t actually evil, merely devoutly religious. Her religion obviously has some truth to it, judging by abilities priests of it have shown (reviving the dead, seeing the future, shadow babies, etc.). In addition, it ties into a great prophecy revolving around the white walkers, winter, and the wall.

So yeah, none of these characters desperately need to die. Joffrey, on the other hand…

Sorry man, but you misjudge these characters completely! And to say that Melisandre is “the most stereotypically evil character in the show” is simply wrong. Gregor Clegane perhaps, but not Melisandre.

SPOILER ALERT! They are all still living even in Book 5 which should translate as Season 6 or 7.

SAMWELL TARLY: He needs to be killed off soon. His story arc was the most boring element of season 2. Little Finger is a hero though. Ned Stark was an idiot.

  • Me

Disagree completely with the list. They all intrigue me. They just have a different way handling situations. Not annoying at all.

    Joffrey. ANNOYING!!!!!!

  • Bellatrix

Except for Baelish, I really disagree with this list. Again….no Joffrey???!! If anyone deserves an unending stream of derision aimed at them, it’s him.

Nah nah nah. What is wrong with Joffrey? Sure he’s a complete bollocks and an unpredictable sadist , but that’s what makes him great. We all love to hate Joffrey and you probably do too.

  • Stephen Kavanagh

You forgot about Joffrey? I’m hoping he was been ommited because you intend on writing an article solely focused on him.
